The brief

Could an AI girlfriend ever replace a real relationship? Newry, Mourne and Down District Council wanted to open a conversation about AI companionship and the expectations it can create around relationships.

Part of the Council’s Ending Violence Against Women and Girls awareness work, the film explores the potential for emotional dependency, isolation and manipulation. Its purpose is to encourage discussion about respectful relationships and human connection.

Our contribution

SlackPress brought the subject into a short scripted film, using a character-led story to make an unfamiliar issue tangible. The pre-production team coordinated casting, locations and the shooting plan, connecting the creative idea with a practical production.

Our production team brought together performance direction, camera, lighting, sound and art direction. Editing and sound shaped the pace and tone of the finished film, keeping the story and its awareness message working together.

Launched on the Council’s YouTube channel on 26 October 2026.

Watch the campaign film.

A two-minute film inviting audiences to consider AI companionship, its potential risks and the value of human connection. Published by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council as part of its ongoing EVAWG awareness work.

A new conversation within an ongoing campaign.

This film extends our work with the Council into another aspect of relationships and public awareness. A scripted story offers a different way into the conversation, complementing the wider campaign’s work on attitudes, behaviour and shared responsibility.
