Queen’s University Belfast wanted to encourage more researchers to explore European Research Council funding. The opportunity needed a clear, professional introduction that connected the funding programme with the people and research it supports.
Successful grant recipients provided the starting point: researchers sharing their experiences and helping colleagues understand what securing this funding could mean for their own work.
SlackPress interviewed successful applicants and produced a suite of individual films alongside a main overview video. Interview production, filming and editing brought their experiences together into a consistent series, giving the University content that could introduce the opportunity broadly and explore individual perspectives in greater depth.
The approach gave a complex funding topic a human focus and a polished presentation. Researchers’ own voices brought credibility and personality to the subject, supporting the University’s aim of encouraging future applications.

The overview film brings together successful researchers’ perspectives on ERC funding and its importance to their work. It introduces the wider series and invites other researchers to consider the opportunity through the experiences of their peers.
